AGASAN Acts of Self Preservation: Workshops

Registration for our next workshops in August 2022 is open. As part of ARROZidency (A.I.R/Project Space) at O.M.France Studio, AGASAN workshops will be hosted at Minnesota Street Project, Saturday August 6, 13 & 20 - 2022 (specifics times and offerings for each day listed below)

Workshops are lead by Flex Maxim Dalit, Rachel Lastimosa, Lisa Suguitan Melnick and Patricia Ong.

Saturday, August 6, 2022 || 2:00-4:00PM || Visual Arts Workshop with Flex

Discover methods for feeling forms through various activities in visual art by trusting intuition and sensory play. Training or previous experience in visual art practice is not necessary.

Saturday, August 13, 2022 || 5:00-7:00PM || Movement Workshop with Trish

Warm up and get in tune with your body to create an expressive experience. Utilize the power of phrase and repetition to tell your story through embodied movement. Training or previous experience in movement or dance is not required.

Saturday, August 20, 2022 || 3:00-5:00PM || Sound Workshop with Lisa

Connect to meditative and relaxing space and build collective energy with sound using voice and instruments. Play with resonance and ground oneself with the power of frequency.

All workshops will precede with tea service, so arrive early to partake in herbal libations. Registration closes Fridays at 5pm for each corresponding offering.

About ARROzidency

The ARROZidency program awards fully sponsored residencies to local, national, and international Filipino/a/x/ American artists, writers and curators each year. Project space and artist residencies are offered at the studio of O.M. France Viana at the Minnesota Street Project Studios in San Francisco.

Artists selected for this program are new MFA graduates and artists and emerging to mid-career artists who require a studio space to complete a project or prepare for an exhibition. Artists selected may work in all media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, film, video, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, social practice, and curatorial practice.

Mission

ARROZidency aims to

· Provide Filipino/a/x artists with the support and opportunity to explore, experiment, innovate and co-create a new vision of FilAm identity.

· Gather together a network of creative practitioners, thinkers, community leaders and cultural professionals to redefine the role of the FilAm aesthetic in the broader cultural landscape.

AGASAN Studio Visits -

During these dates, we will have an ongoing art exhibition open for viewing during open hours and by appointment. Please note that there is a limited number of visitors in the studio space at a time.
