A R T I S T   B I O:

Marina “Nurse Boogy” Stankov-Hodge is a registered nurse, dancer and musician. She has a foundational knowledge of street dance styles such as “Early 90’s Hip Hop”, Strutting, Popping, Waacking, and Freestyle House which have been her main dance forms. Most recently she has been performing stepping with the Las vegas group Molodi as well. She has been a part of many Bay Area and international dance crews, companies, and collectives. She has also performed her own works of dance, music, and musical theatre both here and abroad. She is also a member of the Dance Group Mix'd Ingrdnts. She was first a member of the all female bgirl crew Extra Credit Kru in the late 90’s and early 2000’s which was part of the all female Hip Hop collective Sisterz of the Underground or SOTU. She has opened up for Amy Poehler with Mixd Ingrdnts, as well as performing with KRS-One, Afrika Bambaataa and many others. She is also a member of the Brazilian Bgirl crew Brasil Style Bgirls or BSBGirls. She met BSBGirls in 2009 when she received a Fulbright Grant to teach Breaking coupled with reproductive health education and violence prevention in one of the world’s largest slums “Rocinha” in Rio de Janeiro. After this she was invited on a guest artist exchange with Loco Bloco to Salvador Bahia Brazil where she co-wrote music with local musicians and exchanged dances for carnival. She was also the principal vocalist that year for the SF Carnival Parade Loco Bloco Float entitles “Hella Loco”.
